MediaTag Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MediaTag handles your information. MediaTag is developed by Tbone Apps.

Summary

MediaTag does not collect your personal information. Your music, videos, tags and artwork stay on your device.

There is no account or sign-in, and no advertising, analytics or tracking.

MediaTag only goes online when you ask it to: to look up a track's details on MusicBrainz, to download artwork from a web link you enter, or to handle your subscription if you choose to subscribe.

What MediaTag does

MediaTag is developed by Tbone Apps. It lets you edit the tags stored inside music files (such as title, artist, album, track number and artwork) and inside video files (title, year, description and artwork). It also includes audio tools such as trimming, fading and converting.

Your music, videos and artwork

  • Music: with your permission, MediaTag reads the music on your device so it can list and edit it. Changes are written to the files on your device. Before changing a file, Android asks you to allow it.
  • Videos: you choose a video using your phone's own picker, and MediaTag only receives the video you pick.
  • Artwork: you can add a picture from your gallery, camera, clipboard or a web link. MediaTag only receives the pictures you choose.
  • Audio edits are saved as new files in your Music folder. Your original stays as it is.

Your files and their details are never uploaded. We have no server, and no copy of your files leaves your device because of MediaTag.

Online lookups

  • When you tap Look up online, MediaTag sends the track's title, artist and album to MusicBrainz, a free music database, and downloads matching details and cover art from MusicBrainz and the Cover Art Archive. No other information about you or your files is sent. See the MetaBrainz privacy policy.
  • When you enter a web link for artwork, MediaTag downloads the picture from that address.

Like any website you visit, these services may see technical information such as your IP address.

Accounts and sign-in

MediaTag has no accounts. You never create a profile or give us an email address to use the app.

Purchases and subscriptions

Editing single music tracks is free. MediaTag includes five free video tags and five free bulk edits, then offers a yearly Premium subscription for unlimited use.

  • Payments are handled by Google Play. MediaTag never sees or stores your payment details. See Google's privacy policy.
  • MediaTag stores on your device only whether you have an active subscription and how many free tries you have used.

You can cancel at any time in your Google Play subscription settings.

What we do not collect

MediaTag contains no advertising or analytics tools and does not track you. We do not collect your name, contacts, location, browsing activity or advertising identifiers.

Children

MediaTag is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and deleting data

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to delete. Your files are yours: delete them in your own files or music app. Uninstalling MediaTag removes its settings from your device. Subscription records are held by Google, and you can manage them through Google Play or by contacting us.
